The Nisga’a Medical Emergency Transport (NEMT) is guided by the BC Emergency Health Services (BCEHS), which transports clients from a Health Centre, often accompanied by a nurse in the absence of a Paramedic, to the nearest hospital. This service was created because of the delays experienced in transporting from the health centres to Terrace Hospital and has been quite successful.
All phone numbers are posted on the Nisga’a Health website for weekday and after-hours/weekend phone numbers.
First Responders – fall under the jurisdiction of the Village Governments, and they primarily transport individuals from their homes to the clinic.
