Our Nursing Services Department

Our primary care clinical nursing team comprises LPNs, RNs, RN(c), and an NP, available by appointment Monday to Friday, during clinic hours from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., to support individuals in improving their overall health and wellness. Please contact the health centres to book an appointment or ask a health-related question.  Nisga’a Valley has a variety of nurses, including Registered Nurses (RN), Registered Nurses with Remote Certification (RNc), Nurse Practitioners (NP), and Licensed Practical Nurses (LPN), who also provide lab assistant services.

Registered Nurses with Remote Certification can dispense specific medications as per the Decision Support Tool (DST) within the BCCNM practice guidelines.  Only a Nurse Practitioner can prescribe medication.

Nurses can treat minor injuries and provide information on a variety of health concerns. When they can’t give the care or information you need, they will consult a Physician on-site or by phone as needed.

Primary Care Clinical Nurses are available in each of the following community clinics: Gitlaxt’aamiks, Laxgalts’ap and Gingolx.

After Hours, on weekends, and on Statutory Holidays, nurses are available on call for urgent or emergency medical care.
