The Wwakkw Men’s Group (WMG) will go on three exciting outdoor adventures next month. The group helps men maintain a strong support network and live a healthy, active lifestyle.
1.) Hike and Hot Springs Adventure
The group will hike up to the Gitlaxt’aamiks Lookout on Tuesday, Aug. 1. Everyone will meet at the Gitlaxt’aamiks Health Centre at 6:30 pm. Shortly after, Community Integration and Outreach Worker William Morrison will lead motorists and drive people to the trailhead.
The entire hike will take one hour. After, the group will head to and take a refreshing dip in the hot springs.
Please wear good hiking shoes and bring a swimsuit, towel, and water.
2.) Paddle Day At Local Lake
The group will go canoeing, paddleboarding and kayaking on Wednesday, Aug. 16. William Morrison will meet everyone at the Gitlaxt’aamiks Health Centre at 6:30 pm. Shortly after, he’ll transport people and lead motorists to either Dragon Lake or Lava Lake.
Paddleboarders of all skill levels are welcome to attend. Please bring a swimsuit, sunscreen, sandals, and sunglasses.
3.) Hike and Hot Springs Adventure
The group will hike up to Annodol Waterfall, which is between Laxgalts’ap and London Bridge, on Tuesday, Aug. 22. William Morrison will meet everyone at the Laxgalts’ap Health Centre at 6:30 pm. Shortly after, he’ll lead motorists and drive people to the trailhead.
Please note you need four-wheel drive car to get to the trailhead. The entire hike will take two hours. After, the group will head to and take a refreshing dip in the hot springs.
Nisga’a males aged 10 and up can participate in the adventures and you don’t have to register for them. All the adventures will finish at 9 pm.
