Position: Accounts Payable Clerk
Classification: HEU – Union

Reports to: Chief Financial Officer
Hours: 37.5 hours a week
Term: Permanent, Full-Time position
Wage: $26.85 /hour as per the HEU Collective Agreement

Job Summary

Performs clerical and bookkeeping duties related to the accounting function such as preparing, processing and batching accounts payable records. This is a unionized position, and in accordance with the HEU Collective Agreement.

1. Accounts payable data entry to appropriate ledgers, billing, invoicing, preparing reports, reconciling accounts, and other responsibilities as they pertain to the position
2. Ensures all relevant data is filed appropriately, and in a timely fashion
3. Monitor accounts to ensure payments are up to date
4. Research and resolve invoice discrepancies and issues
5. Maintain vendor files
6. Correspond with vendors and respond to inquires
7. Produce monthly reports
8. Assist with month end closing
9. Provide supporting documentation for audits
10. Provides information to the NVHA auditor as required
11. Expected to train to relieve the payroll clerk and accounts receivable clerk to maintain duties as they pertain to this position
12. Responsible for organizing work and realizing deadlines
13. Performs other related duties as assigned

• Minimum Grade 12 or equivalent
• Business Administration Certificate/Diploma preferred
• Basic accounting program training required
• Minimum 2 years experience in high volume accounts payable
• Knowledge of general accounting procedures
• Proficiency in data entry tasks
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Knowledge of relevant accounting software. SAGE 300/ACCPAC, Microsoft office, outlook
• Proven ability to work independently as well as respectfully and cooperatively with other people and agencies
• Ability to multitask and work in a high stress environment
• Knowledge of Nisga’a language and culture is an asset
• Current Criminal Records Check
• Adherence to quality assurance practices
