The NVHA Board of Directors is comprised of elected representatives from Gitlaxt’aamiks, Gitwinksihlkw, Lax Galts’ap, Gingolx, Local Health Area No. 92 (the Non-Nisga’a Rep), and an appointed representative from Nisga’a Lisims Government. The Board meets monthly, and operates according to a governance model

Biography: NVHA Board of Director: Christine Martin
Christine Smith-Martin grew up in the north coast communities of Lax Kw’ alaams and Prince Rupert. Her Nations include Haida, Tsimshian and Nisga’a. Her great-grandfather was William Beynon (Sim’oogit Gwisk’aayn) Her grandparents were William (Sonny) Beynon and Dora (Adams) Green, Ganada Wilp Luuxhoon.
Christine spent 19 years as the Executive Director of the Vancouver Aboriginal Transformative Justice Services Society. In this capacity, she sat on various Boards and Committees:
Aboriginal Community Career Employment Services Society
Metro Vancouver Aboriginal Executive Council (which she co-founded)
Knowledgeable Aboriginal Youth Association
Aboriginal Homelessness Committee
In addition to the Board and Committees, Christine spent most of her professional career negotiating with both Provincial and Federal Governments, The City of Vancouver and Provincial Indigenous political organizations.
In 2017, Christine left her Executive Director position to semi-retire and pursue her passion in Salmon Conservation in
the North Coast region. Christine was appointed by the Attorney General of British Columbia to the Legal Services Society of British Columbia, Board of Directors. Christine board experience extends to an international level as she serves as a trustee on Christensen Fund, a philanthropic foundation based in San Francisco.

Biography: NVHA Board of Director – Tammi Guimond
is a lifelong resident of British Columbia. She enjoyed her childhood years in the close-knit community of 100 Mile House living with her parents. Her grandparents and great-grandparents lived nearby, providing the loving support of an extended family. After short residences in Kamloops and Dawson Creek, she made her home in Prince George.
While raising three children, Tammi attended post-secondary education and created an inspiring career as a nurse.
Tammi has enjoyed active participation in governance as a board director and executive positions to support the practice of nurses in British Columbia and Canada.
This year, in addition to taking on a new leadership role with Association for Nurses and Nurse
Practitioners of British Columbia, Tammi will lend her expertise in nursing for the British Columbia College for Nursing Professionals and in provincial health care.
With great respect, Tammi extends her thanks to those who have mentored her involvement in health care, regulation and leadership of nurses. She is deeply appreciative for the opportunity to work with Nisga’a Community in her position of governance with the Nisga’a Valley Health Authority. She is grateful for the warm welcome to the beautiful Nass Valley.
Biography: NVHA Board of Director: Theodore A. Gosnell, MBA
My parents are Dr. Joseph A. Gosnell, Simoogit Hleek, and Audrey
Adele, Gosnell, Baskw Hyakws, I am from Wilps Ksim Xsaan, Ganada tribe. I currently serve Gitlaxt’aamiks Village Government as Chief Financial Officer. I have, combined, nine years of senior financial management experience. I will celebrate 7 years of employment at Gitlaxt’aamiks Village Government in June 2019. I currently hold a bachelor’s degree in
business commerce since 1999, as well as Master of Business Administration Degree since 2015. I also served Nisga’a Lisims Government from January 2000 to May 2005 in various financial capacities: first as Payroll Benefits Clerk (1.5 years), then as Bookkeeper (1 year), and finally
as Senior Account Manager for approximately 2.5 years.
I am very honored, and I look forward to serving as Board of Director, Treasurer, for Nisga’a Valley Health Authority.
Biography: NVHA Board of Director: Anthony Moore
Yeenim Bilaanhl Sganist (Anthony Moore) is a La sgiik from Wilps Laay. Anthony currently lives in the Nisga’a Village of Gitwinksihlkw. He has been a firefighter for the Gitwinksihlkw Fire Department
for 17 years, currently as the Captain. Also, an Emergency Medical Responder for 5 years. He holds the position of Emergency Response Services Manager for Nisga’a Lisims Government, there he provides direction of emergency management and business continuity. Also establishing new initiatives such as Wildland Fire Protection, Marine Search and Rescue, Ground Search and Rescue, Structural Fire Protection planning to name a few.
Anthony has graduated from Justice Institute of British Columbia (JIBC) receiving an Emergency
Management Certificate, Emergency Medical Responder Certificate and finishing up an Exterior Attack firefighter Certificate. Anthony is also a local representative for the FireSmart Canada.
